Bangladesh Nano Society (BNS) has organized its second webinar on “Advanced Nano-Biomaterials for Environmental Remediation” on September 12, 2020. Dr. M. Nuruzzaman Khan, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh has delivered speech on the above mentioned topic. Dr. Khan has discussed on the application of nanotechnology to remove various pollutants from the effluent originated from different industries located in Hazaribagh, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also presented diverse methods to prepare porous and surface active nano-biomaterials for environmental clean-up through adsorption and filtration methods.
Professor Dr. Mohammad Shoeb, Department of Chemistry, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and Dr. Rasel Das, Visiting Researcher, Global Innovation Center, Kyushu University, Japan have discussed on the topic presented by Dr. Khan. The discussants have also emphasized on nanotechnology research for environmental protection. Dr. Mohammad Mahbub Rabbani, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has hosted the webinar while Professor Dr. Md. Nizam Uddin, Department of Chemistry, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST), Sylhet, Bangladesh has presided over the webinar. A question-answer session has been conducted by Dr. Nazmul Abedin Khan, an Assistant Professor, Department of mathematical and physical sciences, East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, at the end of the webinar. Professor Dr. Al-Nakib Chowdhury, Department of Chemistry, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has given vote of thanks with a concluding remark.
Dr. A. J. Saleh Ahammad, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Jagannath University, Dhaka, Bangladesh and Dr. Nizam Uddin, Assistant Professor, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering, Daffodil International University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, have provided technical supports to conduct the webinar smoothly. A huge number of participants including students, faculties and researchers from home and abroad have enjoyed the lecture and discussion and taken part in the Q/A session.
