Prof. Dr. Md. Jamal Uddin

Dr. Jamal Uddin is a Professor at Coppin State University in the Department of Natural Sciences in Baltimore, Maryland. He is the founder and director of the Center for Nanotechnology (website: https://www.coppin.edu/nanotechnologycenter). In addition, he was the recipient of two times (2013-14) Wilson Elkins Professorship award from University system of Maryland. He has been teaching chemistry, physical science, environmental science, and nanotechnology since 2005 in the Department of Natural Sciences. He has participated in many national and international Chemistry and Nanotechnology symposiums and seminars. Dr. Uddin's research interest include the areas of Solar Cell, Laser Photochemistry, Nanotechnology, Graphene, Quantum Dot, Carbon Dot, Carbon Nanotube, Gold and Silver Nanoparticles, Electron Microscopy (FESEM, AFM and TEM), Terahertz (THz) Spectroscopy and Metal Enhance Fluorescence (MEF). His field of expertise includes the development of Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC), Biomedical Engineering, synthesis and excited state properties of Polymetallic Complexes used in charge separation and chemical fuel production, along with synthesis of organic and inorganic molecules. Dr. Jamal Uddin received recognition and award from the Daily Record 2011 and 2016 “Innovator of the Year” and best faculty award from USM board of regents in 2013. His research findings have been published in several highly regarded peer-reviewed journals such as Nature Scientific Reports, Journal of Nanomedicine and Nanotechnology, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Coordination Chem Review, New Journal of Chemistry, Inorganic Chimica Acta, RSc Advances, Nanoscale Advances, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Nano Structures & Nano-Objects, Molecules, International Hydrogen Energy, Asian Chem J. and so on. He is a member of American Chemical Society (ACS), American Solar Energy Society (ASES) and the Inter-American Photochemical Society (I-APS).
